Description

COUNTERMARCH On a countermarch loom, shafts are raised and lowered independently of each other (on counterbalance looms, shafts are are tied to move in opposition to each other). The ability to raise and lower shafts independently means that any tie-up can be used with countermarch looms. Countermarch action is especially helpful when weaving with more than four shafts, the tie-up is uneven, the warp is very narrow, or the warp threads are distributed unevenly among the shafts. The Standard countermarch assembly comes in two types: one is equiped with two sets of horizontal jacks and the other with one set of vertical jacks (shown here). The long lamms are included with the jacks.
