Shuttles
Designed to neatly and compactly store and release the weft yarn, shuttles are passed or thrown back and forth through the shed. The simplest shuttles, known as ”stick” shutles are made from a flat, narrow piece of wood with notches on the ends around which the weft is wound. More complicated shuttles incorporate bobbins or pirns, and are usually called ”boat” shuttles. All Glimåkra shuttles are made from birch. Glimåkra boat shuttles are perfectly balanced, easy to throw and catch.
