COUNTERBALANCE 

The Standard loom’s counterbalance assembly includes the counterbalance beam, a set of pulleys, and the horses needed for weaving with four shafts. A 4-shaft counterbalance loom can provide the ideal tension, width, and firmness of beat required by rug weaving as well as produce delicate fabrics and yarns. All of the patterns in Marguerite Davison’s A Handweaver’s Pattern Book are woven on 4-shaft counterbalance looms.
