‘My First Towels’ kit

My First Towels Kit


This kit began as I wound warps to give to new weavers who purchased a loom. Eventually I developed these kits and wrote instructions, complete with photos. Now it is a regular kit, still available with a warp already wound with beautiful Swedish 8/2 cotton. This kit is recommended for beginners, or anyone who prefers to weave from a kit. Choose between plain weave and a number of twill weaves. The stripes are in classic red, yellow and blue and a quill of each color is included for weaving hems or stripes. You will need an 18 inch weaving width, four shafts and a 12 dent reed works best. There are four towels, 17″x24″.


The Julia Towel kit

If an 8 shaft weave is what you want to try, the Julia towel has a very easy threading and an even easier treadling, with a choice of a four treadle or an 8 treadle weave. Both are shown in the photo. You can also weave Julia with two or four shafts. You will need 20 inches weaving width and a 12 dent reed works best. The warp is already wound for you with Swedish 8/2 cotton in natural, red and black. The weft is 8/2 Swedish cotton in white with a quill of red and black to weave hems. The kit makes four towels, 18″x24″.


The Greta Towel kit

These Cottolin towels are made from the best quality blend of cotton and linen. With a choice of weaves, you can choose the look you want from the classic plain weave to an assortment of twills. Gretta is easy to thread and to weave. You will need 18 inches weaving width and a 12 dent reed works best. The warp is already wound for you with Swedish cottolin in natural,white and black. The weft is Swedish cottolin in natural with a quill of white and black to weave hems or stripes on one of the towels. The kit makes four towels, 16″x24″.


Blanket Kits

This double weave kit gives you a wide blanket even if you have a small loom. The finished size is 42″x54″ plus fringe. Since this blanket is large, this kit is not recommended for a table loom. But, a small floor loom is all you need. You will need a 26 inch weaving width, a 10 dent reed and 4 shafts. This kit is very easy to thread and to weave.
Made from Sweden’s leading blanket yarn, this blanket has the feel and warmth you want. The blanket colors are gray, natural and black. The weft is gray. You can choose from an already wound warp, or you can wind the warp yourself. And if you have a particular color in mind, choose your own colors from our Tuna yarn color card. See it.

These Cottolin towels are made from the best quality blend of cotton and linen, which makes very absorbent towels. With a choice of weaves, you can choose the look you want from the classic plain weave to an assortment of twills. There are also instructions for an easy eight shaft weave, shown in the photo. Elin is easy to thread and to weave. You will need 18 inches weaving width and a 12 dent reed works best. The warp is already wound for you with Swedish cottolin in white, yellow and blue. The weft is Swedish cottolin in half bleached, which is near white with a quill of yellow and blue to weave hems on one of the towels. The kit makes four towels, 18″x24″.

The Anna Towel Kit

"Anna" kit


With a choice of a four shaft or an 8 shaft weave, the Anna towel has a very easy threading and an even easier treadling. Even the eight shaft weave can be woven with either a four treadle or an 8 treadle weave. Complete instructions are included. You will need 20 inches weaving width and a 12 dent reed works best. The warp is already wound for you with Swedish 8/2 cotton in natural, yellow and blue. The weft is half bleached Swedish cottolin with a quill of yellow and blue to weave hems. The kit makes four towels, 18″x24″.
