The BIG Book

big-book-www (23K)

We also supply this excellent new book for learning to weave. The Big Book of Weaving, Handweaving in the Swedish Tradition: Techniques, patterns, Designs and Materials, by Laila Lundell Hardbound, $29.95, 267 pages, 125 pages of projects with nearly 100 beautiful color photographs.

This book was first published in Sweden in 1976. It has been used by weavers in schools and weaving programs in Sweden. Fortunately now, with the third edition, this great resource is in English.

The first 50 pages take you step by step from reading project notes to weaving. Numerous diagrams show you exactly how to warp and weave the first practice piece.

The projects in this new edition are contemporary and very practical. There are more than 40 projects and each has complete, easy to understand instructions. Projects are varied and you will learn techniques for different types of weaving such as towels, rag rugs, pillows, blankets, bags and fabric weaving.

Extra warping and weaving information at the back of the book fills 80 pages. Whether you learn to weave on your own or in a class, this book should be at your side.

DVD's and video

We stock the very fine and highly useful DVD by Becky Ashenden 'Dress Your Loom the Swedish Way'. Becky is a very fine teacher and you won't regret owning this DVD which is about 2 hours long.

Becky has also done a DVD for drawloom weavers which is equally useful. Titled 'Dress Your Swedish Drawloom' you'll find Becky's instruction invaluable. This is available in DVD and we have a few remaining as VHS which will sell at 50% off.

We also stock a limited number of other weaving titles. Contact Joanne to see what is currently available.

VAV Magazine

VAV Magazine published in Sweden is a wonderful weaving magazine. It is now available in English. If you would like to subscribe contact us. One year is $55 and two years is $100. It is well worth it.
